Duty to provide crisis intervention and assistance to foster homes

  • duty to train employees to handle crisis situations
  • duty to train providers to use certain techniques with children.

1.

A foster care agency shall provide crisis intervention and assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, to each foster home with which the foster care agency has a contract for the placement of children.

Employees of the foster care agency who provide crisis intervention and assistance must be trained in and competent to handle a crisis situation and to provide necessary services to children and families to ensure child safety, permanency and well-being. The foster care agency shall train and encourage each provider of foster care to use techniques to support positive behavior that emphasize principles and methods to help children achieve desired behavior in a constructive and safe manner.
