Joint board: Establishment

1.

The board of county commissioners of a county which establishes a department of juvenile justice services shall establish by ordinance a joint board consisting of five members.

2.

The joint board consists of:

(a)

Three representatives of the district judges designated by the judges of the judicial district from among their members; and

(b)

Two representatives of the board of county commissioners designated by the board from among its members.

3.

The duties of the joint board must include, but are not limited to:

(a)

Acting as a liaison between the board of county commissioners and the district court; and

(b)

Making recommendations to the board of county commissioners concerning the facilities, resources, operation and management of the department of juvenile justice services.

4.

The district judges serving as members of the joint board may withdraw from participating in the board by giving written notice of their intent to withdraw to the board of county commissioners. The ordinances establishing the department of juvenile justice services, the joint board and the citizen’s advisory committee shall be deemed repealed 6 months after the effective date of the notice, unless an earlier date is prescribed by the board of county commissioners.
