Commission: Creation

1.

The Commission on Postsecondary Education is hereby created within the Employment Security Division of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. The Commission consists of:

(a)

An employee of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation designated by the Director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to serve as a nonvoting member; and

(b)

Seven voting members appointed by the Governor.

The voting members of the Commission are entitled to receive a salary of not more than $80, as fixed by the Commission, for each day’s attendance at a meeting of the Commission.

The nonvoting member of the Commission designated pursuant to paragraph (a) of subsection 1 must be relieved from his or her duties with the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation without loss of regular compensation so that he or she may prepare for and attend meetings of the Commission and perform any work necessary to carry out the duties of the Commission in the most timely manner practicable. The Department may not require the member to make up time or take annual vacation or compensatory time for the time that he or she is absent from work to carry out his or her duties as a member of the Commission.

4.

While engaged in the business of the Commission, each member of the Commission is entitled to receive the per diem allowance and travel expenses provided for state officers and employees generally.
