Requirements for license: Qualifications

An applicant for a license as an athletic trainer must:


Be of good moral character;


Have at least a bachelor’s degree in a program of study approved by the Board;


Submit an application on a form provided by the Board;


Submit a complete set of fingerprints and written permission authorizing the Board to forward the fingerprints to the Central Repository for Nevada Records of Criminal History for submission to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for its report;


Pay the fees prescribed by the Board pursuant to NRS 640B.410, which are not refundable; and


Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2 and NRS 640B.320, pass the examination prepared by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification or its successor organization.


An applicant who submits proof of current certification as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, or its successor organization, is not required to pass the examination required by paragraph (f) of subsection 1.


An applicant who fails the examination may not reapply for a license for at least 1 year after the date on which the applicant submitted the application to the Board.
