NRS 41.220
Procedure

  • examination of records by State Registrar of Vital Statistics.

1.

Every person desiring to have his or her date of birth, place of birth or parentage established must file a verified petition accompanied by his or her fingerprint chart, with a small recent photograph attached, in the district court of the county in which such person has been a resident for at least 6 months prior thereto, which petition must recite the circumstances involved and the desire of the petitioner in relation thereto.

Any action to establish parentage must be entitled “In the Matter of the Parental Relation of ................ and ................” Notice of the bringing of the action must be served, in the manner provided by law and the Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure for the service of process, upon each of the following persons, if living:

(a)

The person whose parentage it is sought to establish; and

(b)

Each known or alleged parent, except a parent who has brought the action.

3.

If the court so requests, the State Registrar of Vital Statistics must examine his or her records and provide to the court any data relevant to the action which the State Registrar finds.
