Contract with school district for provision of school police officers

The governing body of a private school may contract with the board of trustees of the school district in which the private school is located for the provision of school police officers.

If the governing body of a private school makes a request to the board of trustees of the school district in which the private school is located for the provision of school police officers pursuant to subsection 1, the board of trustees of the school district must enter into a contract with the governing body for that purpose. Such a contract must provide the payment by the private school for the provision of school police officers by the school district which must be in an amount not to exceed the actual cost to the school district of providing the officers, including, without limitation, any other costs associated with providing the officers.

Any contract for the provision of school police officers pursuant to this section must be entered into between the governing body of a private school and the board of trustees of the school district not later than March 15 for the next school year and must provide for the provision of school police officers for not less than 3 school years.

A school district that enters into a contract pursuant to this section with the governing body of a private school for the provision of school police officers is immune from civil and criminal liability for any act or omission of a school police officer that provides services to the private school pursuant to the contract.

5.

As used in this section, “private school” means a school licensed pursuant to this chapter or an institution exempt from such licensing pursuant to NRS 394.211.
