Establishment and maintenance of programs by school districts

  • endorsement on diploma indicating successful completion of program.

1.

Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3, the board of trustees of a school district in a county whose population is 100,000 or more shall and any other board of trustees of a school district may:

(a)

Establish and maintain a program of career and technical education giving instruction in the subjects approved by the State Board.

(b)

Raise and expend money for the establishment and maintenance of a program of career and technical education.

A pupil who successfully completes a program of career and technical education and who otherwise satisfies the requirements for graduation from high school must be awarded a high school diploma with an endorsement indicating that the pupil has successfully completed the program of career and technical education. The provisions of this subsection do not preclude a pupil from receiving more than one endorsement on his or her diploma, if applicable.

3.

The board of trustees of each school district shall incorporate into the curriculum:

(a)

Guidance and counseling in career and technical education in accordance with NRS 389.041; and

(b)

Technology.

4.

The State Board shall adopt regulations prescribing the endorsement of career and technical education for a high school diploma.
