Committee on statewide school safety

1.
The Governor shall appoint a committee on statewide school safety. Appointments must be made to represent each of the geographic areas of the State.2.
The committee must consist of:(a)
One representative of the Department of Education;(b)
One representative of the Department of Public Safety;(c)
One representative of the Division of Emergency Management of the Department of Public Safety;(d)
One representative of the Department of Health and Human Services;(e)
One representative who is a licensed teacher in this State;(f)
One representative who is the principal of a school in this State;(g)
One superintendent of a school district in this State;(h)
One school resource officer assigned to a school in this State;(i)
One person employed as a paraprofessional, as defined in NRS 391.008, by a school in this State;(j)
One school psychologist employed by a school in this State;(k)
One provider of mental health other than a psychologist who provides services to pupils at a school in this State;(l)
The State Fire Marshal or his or her designee;(m)
One parent or legal guardian of a pupil enrolled in a school in this State;(n)
At least two pupils enrolled in a school in this State; and(o)
Any other representative the Governor deems appropriate.3.
The committee shall:(a)
Establish methods which facilitate the ability of a pupil enrolled in a school in this State to express his or her ideas related to school safety and the well-being of pupils enrolled in schools in this State;(b)
Evaluate the impact of social media on school safety and the well-being of pupils enrolled in schools in this State; and(c)
Discuss and make recommendations to the Governor and the Department related to the findings of the committee.4.
As used in this section, “social media” has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 232.003.
