Disposal of public lands: Legislative authorization required

  • State Land Registrar may dispose of lands to same extent and in same manner as Federal Government
  • deposit of proceeds.

Except as provided in subsection 2, no sale, conveyance or other disposal of the public lands may be permitted or authorized by the State Land Registrar, unless specifically authorized by an act of the Legislature enacted after July 1, 1979.

To the extent that the public lands may be conveyed, leased, permitted, or licensed by the Federal Government or any of its agencies, the State Land Registrar is hereby authorized to convey, lease, license or permit the use of public lands to the same extent or in the same manner as those lands are conveyed, leased, licensed or permitted to be used by the Federal Government or any of its agencies.

All proceeds of fees, rents, royalties or other money paid to the State under NRS 321.596 to 321.599, inclusive, must be deposited with the State Treasurer for credit to the State General Fund.
