Regional planning commission: Members

The ordinance must specify the membership of the commission, which must consist of not less than six members or more than 12 members.

The ordinance must provide that the term of each member is 4 years, or until his or her successor takes office, except that the terms of two of the members first appointed are 3 years, and the respective terms of two members first appointed are 1 and 2 years. No more than one-third of the members may hold any other public office. For the purposes of this subsection, membership on the planning commission of a county or city must not be considered holding a public office.

The governing body creating the commission shall, by resolution, provide what compensation, if any, each of the members shall receive for his or her services as a member, not to exceed $40 per meeting or a total of $200 per month.

Members may be removed, after public hearing, by a majority vote of the governing body, for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance of office.

5.

All appointments to fill vacancies must be for the unexpired term.
