General powers and duties

  • opinions on questions of law.

1.

The Legislative Counsel has:

(a)

The powers and duties assigned by this title and any law or resolution; and

(b)

Such other powers and duties as may be assigned by the Director, the Legislature and the Legislative Commission.

2.

Upon the request of any member or committee of the Legislature or the Legislative Commission, the Legislative Counsel shall give an opinion in writing upon any question of law, including existing law and suggested, proposed and pending legislation which has become a matter of public record.
